Hi Ladies,
ReplyDeleteI have to say that this talking about sin can get pretty heavy:) I started a Wed night teaching a few weeks back and have been surprised how much I have learned about Christ, and clarification, and our relationship with him.
Mindy's comment about sin got me to thinking about how many times I sin, probably 3 times before lunch each day, more yesterday after a frustrating morning! And if I add all that up over my lifetime, that's about 51,000 sins...that makes me feel YUCKY. Here's what the Bible says sin IS:
a. Sins of COMMISSION..Anything we DO that God says we shouldn't do.
1John 3:4 Everyone sho sins breaks the law:in fact, sin is lawlessness.
b. Sins of OMISSION..Anything we FAIL to do which God commands
James 4:17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.
c. Evil things we SAY
Matthew 12:37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."
d. Sins of the MIND and THOUGHTS
Matthew 15:19-20 .."out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man "unclean..."
These verses really raise my awareness of my sinful nature. I believe we all know that Jesus was the only person to walk the earth without sin. I had always thought because He was God and it was just easier for Him. But I learned this week that my line of thinking was incorrect. Jesus had all the same temptations as a human on earth that I have and that it was his relationship with his Father/God that helped, enabled, allowed him to avoid sin.
Praises...my mother's appt went well with neurologist, he believes she is dealing with grief and depression..for God's continued faithfulness with protection from harm for all our family members and giving you your heart's desires.
ReplyDeletePrayers..for all of us, the blessing to have the ability to succeed over adversity when trials come by partnering with God, for my friends Sandy, Jeannette, and Rachel who have lost loved ones to suicide, and the wakeman family who lost their 15 year old daughter Rachel.
Kathy is right, sin is heavy. I think it is on purpose so that we feel the burden we are carrying. The only way it is made light is through Jesus. Before we were sinners...he died for us. That is just so cool. Nothing in this world is more amazing than His love for us. Thank the Lord for taking on all of our sins so that we may have second and third...and so on for chances. Basically since we are all sinners and it is impossible for us to handle it on our own we need Him...everyday and some days or hours more than others.
ReplyDeletePrayers - may I remain sane as I feel these four walls are closing in on me. I love being a mom and I love my son but it is extremely hard work and sacrifice. I don't think anyone could have prepared me for this.
Liz and Aaron (Sam's family) have there first foster child in their home, may they feel confident in raising him the time they do have with him.
Continued successful pregnancies for Amanda and Christin.
Praise - we got Benjamin's test results from birth and he is healthy...no genetic disorders, etc. - Praise the Lord! Porter finally loves me again after bringing Benjamin home :)
